About this Nominee
Mary Ann Kowalonek serves as President and CEO/CFO of Service Access & Management, Inc. (SAM), a nonprofit human services organization committed to creating stronger people, families, and communities. During her more than 21 years with SAM, Mary Ann has helped lead the organization with a steadfast belief that leadership is ultimately about service to others.
Grounded in a Servant Leadership philosophy, Mary Ann strives to bring SAM’s vision—“Everyone we meet, we leave better off!”—to life every day. She believes the greatest measure of leadership is not simply organizational success, but the positive and lasting impact we have on the people we serve, the people we lead, and the communities we call home.
Mary Ann extends that commitment beyond SAM through service on numerous boards and currently serves as Chair of the National Association of Case Management, helping to advance the profession and strengthen the human services field nationally.
At the heart of Mary Ann’s life is family. She lives in Auburn with her husband, Tom, and is the proud mother of their daughter, Jaclyn. When she isn’t working or serving her community, she enjoys traveling, interior design, and reading—always looking for new experiences, ideas, and inspiration.
